MILFORD ROTARY COMMUNITY FUND
· Rotary raises and donates money locally
Since 1950, the Milford Rotary Club has served the Milford, Amherst, Lyndeborough, Mont Vernon and Wilton communities by giving all of the funds it raises to charitable causes, mostly to local groups and individuals. Eighty percent of the money we raise stays right here in the Souhegan Valley, meeting the needs of youth, supporting education, and contributing to human services. The remaining twenty percent goes to international efforts focused on improving and saving lives. In recent years the local business people of Milford Rotary - all volunteers – have raised and donated as much as $100,000 annually.
· Tax-deductible giving to benefit local programs
To make it possible for more individuals who want their donations to go to those who need it – rather than shared with the people who administer the programs – the Milford Rotary Club Community Fund was established in 1999. Now anyone can make a tax-deductible donation to benefit our community through this not-for-profit ‘501C-3’ organization. Contributions to the Fund are used entirely within the region unless designated otherwise by the donor.
· Centennial Park
The Community Fund was the primary conduit for funds donated to create Milford’s beautiful Centennial Park at the corner of Union and Elm Streets, and continues to support maintenance of the park.
· A Souhegan Valley Rainy Day Fund
Your tax-deductible gift to the Milford Rotary Community Fund gives you the opportunity to participate in the ongoing efforts of Rotary to improve the lives of neighbors and overcome emergencies like the 2007 floods. You might send a local child to camp or aid a destitute family in hard times. You might help a young person with college expenses or fund a traveling scholarship. Your contribution could also help Rotary when it needs to quickly respond to an immediate need by disbursing discretionary funds.

· Fund Management
A board of seven trustees administers the Milford Rotary Community Fund. The trustees are responsible for investment of the funds and compliance with terms of the trust that established the Fund. Donations from the Fund are made at the direction of the Milford Rotary Board of Directors, which has fifteen members. All trustees and directors are members of the Club and are elected by the club’s eighty-plus members. All serve on a volunteer basis with no compensation.
· Flexible Options for Giving
Donations may be made in cash or marketable securities, which may provide significant tax benefits based on appreciation in value. The Fund may also hold non-monetary assets. The Fund would appreciate being notified of any testamentary legacies in order to facilitate future planning. Should you wish to make a bequest for a specific purpose, please contact the current Club President or Trustee Chair, indicated on the club Web Site. All information and communications will be held in the strictest confidence.
